Ukulele
Our ukulele lessons don't come by often, but when they do, Mie sensei is prepared with music sheets, cds, and a patient positive attitude about our mediocre musical talent. She is great to keep the class moving and give variations of the songs in different keys. We are doing a bit of both traditional Hawaiian music, and she throws in some classic oldies songs too. We are singing (or I'm singing) (other people concentrating too hard), playing, and sometimes the kids dance too!
If you are interested in uke, come by! Practice is usually after practice on Saturdays from 1:00!
Happy New Year 2008
Happy New Year Everyone! Hope that 2008 brings health and happiness for everyone. Shane and I and the girls had a very long vacation in Idaho. Time flew by though, as we kept busy. Soon to be posted are pictures of Idaho workshops and also long awaited video and pics of Kaimana's workshops. Sorry for the delay in postings.
We have moved to a new apartment ---(down the hall from our old one)----what a consuming task!! We have so much junks! It was nice to go through boxes and clothes and closets and clean up things and start fresh for 2008! Did everyone make a new year's resolution? ONE of my New year's resolutions:
Update Web more often! (possible? I hope so!)
The new year also brings a new Keiki Class. Every Friday, we have class at British School of Tokyo (BST) for a noon time hula class. We are in our third week, and BST girls are all smiles---and they are so polite!
This year we are also planning many events.
February is kind of a sleepy cold month, and we'll practice as much as we can. Don't forget to buy your loved one some chocolate!
March we'll perform at a PRO wrestling event; for Wahine only (To be announced)
April Joy will come to do hula auwana, kahiko, and keiki workshops.
And in the Fall we are planning Camp Hula Bootie 2008! All details will be announced soon.
Love all of you and can't wait for a wonderful year with my hula family!!
Serious about Kahiko
Saturday Mornings are reserved for Implement and Kahiko Practice.
There are a few brave souls that give up their Saturday morning sleep to join us.
Here is Beni, Akemi and Kiyoko trying hard to memorize their chant.
