Akebono Keiki

Can you believe these little ones are only 2 and 3 years old---and speak ONLY Japanese? We just wrapped up a 10 week session and the last few lessons were very rewarding. (The first half of the session was fun, but CHAOS!) The keiki went from crying and running around the room in the begining classes ----to dancing and singing by the end of the session. When the keiki finally understood the routine of the class, they felt comfortable and participated freely! They now can say "please" and "thank you!" and count, "1-2-3" easily.

The nature of this hula class is a bit different because the children are learning English through Hula. Kids could relate their hand motions to English words,( i.e. tree, flower, sun, ocean, fish, frog) and physically putting the word to motion helped them to learn their first words in English. They danced "Kaholo hula," "Pearly Shells" and "Hukilau." The keiki's favorite part of the lesson was Train Time---OH and of course Sticker Time!

Mahalo for a great session. We will continue next year from February 2007, dancing every other Wednesday from 1:20-2:00.
