Rinshin No Mori 2007

Mahalo to keiki and wahine for dancing for the annual Rinshin No Mori Festival. It was beautiful weather! The sunshine energized us, and the peaceful green park was calming and refreshing! Sharing our aloha with the crowd was the main goal for this show. And that we did! We smiled a lot and in return received positive energy from everyone! Our group was lucky enough to dance at this festival 2 years in a row. It is such a nice way to share our aloha to a relaxed and eager crowd. Big Mahalo to Masayo for organizing the event!

Rinshi No Mori

October 22, 2006, Hulabootie keiki and wahine shined on the grassy (rocky) area in the beautiful Rinshi no Mori Park in Meguro Ku. This park has towering trees, walking paths, and beautiful green everywhere. We were very lucky to find this free event (thanks to Masayo). Although the same groups cannot perform two years in a row, the lady asked us to come back year after next---FOR SURE we'll be there!

A handfull of keiki were able to come to the event---I was happy to see different keiki perform. Totah, Kanna, Becca, and Izzy made their stage debut on the grass! Sasha, Avvie, Sara, Reira and Sally are veterans to the stage, so they felt right at home!Picture 139.jpg

Angleux and Azabu Gals heated the crowd up with their sexy pareos, and kind lei giving during "Ku'u Lei Awapuhi." They really shared their aloha that day by finding friends and strangers in the crowd to "lei."

Atusgi, Shonan, Yoyogi, and Gakugei girls showed up with their smiles for "Aloha I'a Waianae" and "Lei Halia." Everyone was very relaxed and looked beautiful in their different colored pa'u skirts. Otsukaresama Wahine and Keiki!

Fukudenkai-Orphanage

8/27/06, Sunday. Hulabootie Keiki had the opportunity to perform at "the" oldest orphanage/school in Japan. The land the orphanage was built on was donated by the emperor in the Mejii era. Currently, there are nearly 100 kids living there (tucked away near Hiroo Station, Tokyo). On the day we visited, the orphanage held a matsuri with many tents with games and food. It was a lot of fun! Mahalo Fukudenkai!

Hulabootie Keiki wowed the crowd with their colorful costume, beautiful smiles, and swaying hips.

When we arrived at the orphanage, we didn't expect to see so many people! We were greeted warmly by teachers from the orphanage/school, and escorted to a raised stage decorated for the festival.

Keiki danced Kawika, Ulapalakua, Hawaiian 5, and Hukilau. Masami, Momo and Masayo, volunteered to help, and they too ended up on stage!

Avvie's Stage Debut

Avvie was a bit scared behind stage. It was dark; the stage was big and there were about 400 people in the audience. But once the spotlight came on, and the music started playing, Avvie zoned in and started smiling and dancing! What a special day for her, and all the other Hulabootie girls who lit up the stage!
