]]>We had the opportunity to do 2 workshops and a private lesson. The ladies danced with smiles on their faces. I am always so happy to dance with this group because of their positive energy! Look at the photos: can you feel their energy???
Ikaika and Molly did a private lesson together and giggled a bit when they found out they had to hold hands. They were a bit timid at first, but soon caught on to the ways of dancing with a partner.
Joy passed the hula torch to Tasha and Aunty Patty to continue Saturday Morning Hula at the Meridian Studio. . . And things couldn’t be better! Tasha has reconnected with her hula diva inside, and Aunty Patty’s experience and big heart draw people by the droves. Since taking over, the group is growing every week! Tasha and Aunty arrive at the studio bright and early every Saturday morning with warm smiles. (even in below zero temperatures!!)
ターシャとパティーは土曜日の午前中にメリディアンスタジオ行われているフラをジョイから引き継ぎました。とても順調に行われてます。ターシャは彼女自身のフラ精神を再確認し、パティーは彼女の偉大さと経験が人々を動かします。交代してからは毎週のようにグループが成長してます！二人とも笑顔でスタジオ入りし、土曜の早朝であるにもかかわらず笑顔でスタート！とても寒いにもかかわらず・・・
During our holiday in Idaho, I had 4 Saturdays with the group both keiki and wahine. Keiki class was held like a usual hulabootie class with dancing, singing, smiling, stickers. At first, some keiki were a bit shy and shocked at my teaching style, but by the end of the 4 weeks were used to the routine and really shined.
アイダホ滞在中私は4度ケイキとワヒネの土曜のクラスに参加しました。ケイキのクラスでは東京のケイキクラスと同様踊りはもちろんのこと歌うこともし子ども達は笑顔でシールを受け取ります。はじめは私のケイキクラスのスタイルに驚いていましたが、4週間後にはみんな慣れてお互い楽しい時間を共有できました。
The first wahine class was interesting! Ladies were nervous, kind of holding their breath and were really stiff! Were they scared of me???? Not possible! By the end of it all, everyone loosened up and danced beautifully; and I had the opportunity to make some wonderful new relationships. We danced Ku’u Hoa and polished Pua Olena. The ladies have their first gig this month! Good luck Ladies!
最初のワヒネのクラスはとても興味深いものとなりました。みんなとても緊張をしていた様子。もしかして私のことを怖がっていたのでしょうか・・・。そんなことないですよね！？でも終わる頃には緊張がとけとてもいいレッスンとなりました！新しい友達もできましたしね！はじめにKu’u Hoa を踊り Pua Olenaは以前から踊っていたので再確認の意味を込めまとめとして踊りました。今月彼女達にとって初めてのステージがあります。がんばってください！
Marsha also showed her love for Hiromi and Noriko as they were given a limited edition Hulabootie necklace for their efforts with keiki classes. Mahalo Hiromi and Noriko!
ひろみさんとのりこさんにはMarshaからネックレスのプレゼントがありました。二人はMarshaのケイキのクラスの助っ人としてがんばってくれました。ひろみさん、のりこさん、本当にありがとう！
We have moved to a new apartment ---(down the hall from our old one)----what a consuming task!! We have so much junks! It was nice to go through boxes and clothes and closets and clean up things and start fresh for 2008! Did everyone make a new year's resolution? ONE of my New year's resolutions:

The new year also brings a new Keiki Class. Every Friday, we have class at British School of Tokyo (BST) for a noon time hula class. We are in our third week, and BST girls are all smiles---and they are so polite!
This year we are also planning many events.
February is kind of a sleepy cold month, and we'll practice as much as we can. Don't forget to buy your loved one some chocolate!
March we'll perform at a PRO wrestling event; for Wahine only (To be announced)
April Joy will come to do hula auwana, kahiko, and keiki workshops.
And in the Fall we are planning Camp Hula Bootie 2008! All details will be announced soon.

It's been a long 3 years since Kaimana has visited Japan, and Hulabootie members have the opportunity to join his workshops and learn some new hulas, but more importantly, soak in his spirit and energy!
カイマナはフラブーティにとってかけがえの無い存在です。 彼はアロハの精神でフラダンスはもちろん、ハワイ文化や家族や知識や能力などを彼の持つ暖かい気持ちと共にシェアしてくれます。 私達に学びたい気持ちがある限り、彼は惜しまずシェアしてくれます。
カイマナといると、私達は彼のアロハやエネルギーを感じる事が出来ます。彼はパフォーマンスへの情熱にあふれ、また、ミュージシャンとしても、フラダンサーとしても、振りつけにおいても才能のある人物です。
カイマナが3年ぶりに日本に来て、私達にワークショップを通じてフラを教えてくれます。 フラだけでなく、彼のアロハ精神やエネルギーも学べる機会でしょう！
Kaimana and Marsha
Kaimanaは9歳から踊り始め、Hu'luaのKumu Kawailaniからカヒコを中心に学びました。
10歳のときKaimanaはMoloka'iとLa'ieのKumu Hula Richard Petersから本格的な指導を受けます。このRichard Petersはオアフ島ノースショーにあるポリネシアカルチャーセンターでハワイアンダンス、チャント、カルチャーの担当をしています。
高校時代はHalau Napuananionapalioko'lauのKumu Hula Sunday Mariteragiの下でフラの指導を受けました。さらに2年間Kahuku高校のフラクラブの代表を務めました。
1993年メリーモナックフラフェスティバルでハラウと一緒に出演しました。Kumu Hula Keith AwaiとEllen Gay Dela Rosaはポリネシアカルチャーセンターでハワイアンプロダクションの担当をしていますが一緒に踊りました。
1994年Annual Kualoa Park Hula Campに参加してゲストのKumu Hula Victoria Takamine Holt、Ellen Castillio、Kaulana Kasparovichから指導を受けました。
1996－1999年Boise州立大学にてHui-O-Aloha Clubの代表を務め、５０以上のショーパフォーマンスを担当しました。また大学の最初のLuauでは500人以上の参加者を集めました。
2000年沖縄オンナソンの沖縄ルネッサンスホテルにてTihatiプロダクションとともにフラを披露しました。
現在はDream Cruisesのエンタテインメントマネージャーを務めています。
